Welcome to Ms. Fisher's Kindergarten!

Kindergarten is a great adventure in learning. We work hard on beginning reading skills including letter recognition, connecting letters with sounds, sounding out words, and learning sight words. Learning reading sight words will help your child become a more successful beginning reader. Here is a list of sight words your child should know by the end of the year:
I am little to a have is we my like he for me with she see look they you of are that do one two three four five here go from yellow green blue what said was where come
One of the best ways to help your child with reading is to read with him/her every day. Be sure to write down the time spent reading on the Book-It calendar taped to the front of the home folder. The goal is to read at least 300 minutes a month.
We also work very hard in math. Have your child practice counting sets of objects. Your child should be able to make sets of objects 1-20 by the end of the year. The counting goal is to be able to count to 100 by the end of the year.
DON'T FORGET!
*Check and sign the home folder daily.
*Send a healthy snack labeled with your child's name
every day.
*Dress for the weather. Remember to write your child's name inside
his/her jacket.
*Read!
Thanks for your help and support!
